Girls 7th Grade- 2009-10 Season

The Madison Spartans basketball 7th grade girls team is off to a fantastic start this season. The team has placed first in each of its three tournaments.
This has been unexpected due to the fact that the squad is working in three players with no basketball experience and has added two new players into the starting rotation. The team followed up an overtime sudden death championship game at the Beaver Dam Tourney on November 7, 2009 with an outstanding team performance at the November13th Pardeeville Tourney; defeating Menasha in the final. In the semi-final game against Cambridge, point guard, the sharp shooting, Ebony Nettles-Bey hit five three pointers. The weekend was capped off with the Madison Spartans winning the team free throw contest and Vivian Gilbertson winning the individual three-point contest. On December 6th the team took a bold step in playing an age division up to eight grade for a new challenge at the Dells Winter Classic. The team struggled early going down twelve points with 4:50 to go. Our girls really came of age fighting back to pull out six point win over Portage Hoopsters.
We, the coaches, are looking forward to the continued development of the team.
